Nasal congestion is a symptom and not a disease. It is also called clogged nose or stuffy nose, nasal congestion is a very common symptom in both children and adults, and usually occurs as temperature variation changes.
Nasal congestion is characterized by the blockage of the nasal airways and adjacent tissues. Once stuffed, they become inflamed due to excess fluid, and breathing becomes difficult, and the person in question has an increased discomfort.
1. Saline solutions
They are based on sea water and can be purchased from pharmacies. They are very effective in cleaning the nose, and can also be used as a preventative solution against stuffy nose due to a cold. Sea water sprays are also indicated for children.
2. A hot shower or a bath
It’s very important to do steam inhalation because it unclogss quickly the nose. If you don’t have time to make a hot water bath, put in a larger bowl, boiled water, add chamomile tea, cover your head with a towel, and breathe in the steam. Eucalyptus oil is also really helpful. Put a few drops in the boiling water and inhale the steam and you will notice how quickly your nose will unclog.
3. Another remedy is the application of warm compresses over your face or washing the nasal airways with a special irrigator found in pharmacies.
4. Eat 1 teaspoon of grated horseradish mixed with 1 teaspoon of honey and its beneficial effects will suddenly appear.
5. Drink a cup of basil tea and add 1 teaspoon of honey before bedtime. This remedy will unclog your nose pretty fast.
