Remedies And Exercises To Ease Plantar Fasciitis – Great For Runners And Pregnant Women –

I read an article the other days that over a million people per year, only in US, complain about foot pain and the diagnosis is plantar fasciitis. The cause of such disease in not completely known but it seems that excess stress of the tissue that runs from heel to big toe causes severe foot pain.

Foot pain or plantar fasciitis appears from the first steps you take in the morning, after waking up. The pain will be felt in the heel or the arch of the foot.

As a nurse, I’m familiar with such pain, because I see patience daily bragging about foot pain, and the diagnosis it’s almost the same: plantar fasciitis. There are plenty of ways to get rid of such pain, of course with medicines, but there are several home remedies that will help you beat up the plantar fasciitis pain, such as:

Epsom salt

For its magnesium sulfate content, Epsom salt does real wonders for foot pain acting like a real anti-inflammatory. It will easily treat any muscle ache. You need to add half a cup of Epsom salt in a hot water bowl, and soak your feet in it for 10-15 minutes.

Ginger

Yes, another effective and natural anti-inflammatory great in treating foot pain. It has excellent analgesic properties which will help you in treating pain and foot inflammation. Prepare a ginger infusion and soak your feet in it for 15 minutes.

Hot/cold compresses

This great combo will help in improving blood circulation and reduce pain and inflammation by numbing the affected area. Just place a hot pack to the affected area, keep it for 5-10 minutes, and then replace it with an ice pack and hold it to the affected area for another 5-10 minutes. Repeat this procedure 2 or 3 times.

Sesame oil

Sesame oil is well known for its anti-inflammatory properties that will help you to reduce inflammation and foot pain. You need only 1-2 tablespoons of sesame oil and gently massage the affected area. The massage should be done gently, as much as you can bear the pain.

Mustard seeds

Since forever, mustard seeds are known for their beneficial anti-inflammatory properties, and they are a real foot pain healer. They will easily reduce swelling and tenderness. So, in large bowl with hot water, add half a cup of mustard seeds and soak your feet in it. Repeat this procedure 1-2 times a day.

Cayenne pepper

It may sting, but the compound found in cayenne pepper, capsaicin, is the most effective remedy you can use to treat any pain. You can add half a teaspoon of cayenne powder in a large bowl of hot water and soak your feet in it for 15 minutes, or you can prepare a capsaicin cream and massage gently your feet with it. Some easy stretches are the best thing you can do to get rid of plantar fasciitis. Along with the above remedies try a stretching program to ease quickly the heel pain.
