Winter has arrived and so laryngitis and other winter diseases. Cold air favors throat infections, especially in the case of children. But adults can also experience sore throat and other unpleasant symptoms of a sick respiratory system.
Throat infections can heal without medicines during a few days, but to relieve sore throat and the discomfort caused by it, you can take some simple steps, such as:
Gargle with warm water and salt – the inflammation will be reduced and the itching and irritation will diminish. Gargling improves blood flow to the oral cavity, removes bacteria and reduces swelling in the pharynx area while fluidizing the mucus, which will be easier to expectorate.
Consume hot liquids – In the case of an infection, your throat tends to dry out and therefore you need to moisturize it to get rid of the feeling of stinging. Hot tea and chicken soup are the most suitable liquids that can improve the inflammation of the throat and to restore the hydration of the mucosa.
Eat soft foods – cooked or scrambled egg, well cooked pasta, steamed vegetables are indicated. Avoid as much as possible bread, chips, popcorn and any other crunchy foods that can irritate your throat.
Apply a warm compress on the neck – this will improve the discomfort and pain experienced when you swallow food.
Rest – avoid yelling and save your voice until the symptoms pass, otherwise the situation will become more complicated. Sleep is the best medicine you can use to rebuild your body.
Lemon – you can cut a lemon in half, sprinkle black pepper on it and try to eat it as such.
Garlic – mix 3 tablespoons of honey with 5 garlic cloves, and take 1 tablespoon of this preparation 3 times a day.
