If you notice a lump on the top of your foot, you most likely did a quick assessment, and you probably suffer of bone spur.
A bone spur that is growing out of a joint on the top of your foot is an extra growth of bone tissue. Bone spurs develop when your body grows extra bone in the attempt of repairing the damage caused by regular stress or pressure on the affected bone. It can happen in any bone, but most of the time it appears in the joints. This condition is often associated with osteoarthritis.
Use of cold compress not only helps reduce swelling and inflammation but also provides relief from pain. Take few ice cubes in a thin towel and apply them over the affected area and rub gently. Keep doing this for 5-10 minutes. Tip: don’t apply ice directly on the skin as it may lead to frostbite.
One of the most effective home remedies for bone spurs treatment involves use of ginger due to its anti-inflammatory properties. If you want to get rid of pain, swelling and inflammation, all you have to do is prepare ginger tea and drink at least 3 times a day. You can also massage the affected area with ginger oil few times a day to get relief from bone spurs.
Apple cider vinegar
Known for its anti-inflammatory properties, apple cider vinegar is effective in reducing pain, swelling and inflammation. Take 2 teaspoons of apple cider vinegar in a glass of water and drink it twice a day to prevent bone spurs.
Turmeric contains a yellow pigment called curcumin which is packed with anti inflammatory and antioxidants properties that help reduce inflammation and pain associated with bone spurs. All you have to do is add a teaspoon of turmeric powder to cup of lukewarm milk. Drink this milk at least twice a day for fast recovery. You can also apply a turmeric paste, made from water and turmeric powder, directly on the affected area.
Just prepare a mixture by adding 1 tablespoon of fresh chamomile flowers to a cup of hot water. Let the solution steep for 10-15 minutes and allow it to cool down. Now wash the affected area using this solution. You can also drink 2-3 cups of chamomile tea to get rid this problem.
Add 4 cups of Epsom salt in the bathtub and take a bath for 20 minutes. Epsom salt will reduce pain and inflammation, and it will also eliminate toxins in the body.
Give yourself a massage to the affected area using 2-3 drops of essential clove oil in 1 teaspoon of coconut oil. Leave the oil to act overnight. Don’t wash it!
Cayenne pepper bandage
Mix 1 tablespoon of cayenne pepper with water to obtain a paste. Now, apply the paste over the affected area and tie it well with a bandage. Let the remedy to act overnight.
