Before Bedtime Rules To Get Rid Of Nighttime Coughing In Kids

Each fall is the same old story! Your kid comes back from school or daycare coughing and sneezing. No, it’s not flu! Just some simple cold symptoms that won’t seem to go away until the next spring! That nagging cough is there and it aggravates during the nighttime. The minute you fall asleep, the next you hear your kid coughing his lungs out. Don’t get me wrong, in the morning he’s just fine, but during the night he’s lungs seems that they are attacked by germs.

Hopefully, I don’t have to struggle with nocturnal coughing anymore because I found the perfect coughing remedies for kids during the nighttime.

So, moms, before putting your kids to bed, just give them a warm bath with the following homemade shower soothers:

Needed Items: 1 cup and a half of baking soda, 1/2 cup water, silicone molds, Eucalyptus Essential Oil, Myrtle Essential Oil, Peppermint Essential Oil

Directions: Preheat the oven to 325° F. Then mix the baking soda and water in a bowl and stir until you get a smooth consistency.
Fill the silicone mold with the baking soda paste and bake it for approximately 15 minutes or until hard. Remove the mold from the oven and allow to cool until it is cool to the touch.
Gently pop out the discs and spread on a clean, dry surface. Place 1-5 drops of peppermint oil, 2-4 drops of Eucalyptus, and 2-4 drops of Myrtle on each disc.

How To Use:Drop one disc on the shower floor when you are showering. As the disc melts, it will release the oil into the steam of your shower for instant relief and sinus support.

Now, put on the PJ’s and administrate your kid 1 tablespoon of this Pineapple Syrup:

Needed Ingredients: 2 thick slices of fresh pineapple, peel removed, but core intact, 1 tablespoon of honey, 1/2 teaspoon of cayenne pepper, a thumb sized piece of fresh ginger, peeled and sliced and the juice of 1 lemon

Directions:Give the pineapple a rough chop, including the core, which is not only edible but particularly healthy. Blend everything up in a blender or food processor until smooth. Use as is, or push the mixture through a mesh strainer to get a smoother syrup. Keep in the refrigerator and take as needed.

These two should do the work, but in case you hear coughing throughout the night, you can visit your kid and administrate another tablespoon of pineapple syrup. Or give him/her one the following Cough Drops. Well, it may fall asleep sucking it (which will probably be found stuck in his/her hair in the morning), but it will ease the cough.

Needed Ingredients: 1 tablespoon (or teabag) of peppermint tea leaves, 1 tablespoon/teabag of chamomile tea, ½ teaspoon of cinnamon, ½ teaspoon of ginger powder, ¾ cup of boiling water, ¾ cup of honey

Directions: Steep peppermint, chamomile, cinnamon, and ginger in boiling water for 10 minutes or more, then strain off water, and pour into a small saucepan and add honey. Heat over medium heat until mixture begins to boil. Clip candy thermometer to the side of your pan and continue boiling until mixture reaches 300º.
Let mixture cool for 5-10 minutes, until it starts to get syrupy then drop by small spoonfuls onto parchment paper and let cool. Dust with slippery elm bark, or at the very least, cornstarch, potato starch, or tapioca starch to absorb condensation and prevent them from sticking together in storage.
Store in an airtight container.
